CLOSED FOR THE EARTHQUAKE of 30 October 2016
Built over the remains of a Roman temple, over the centuries, the church has been restructured many times until it reached the current layout dating back to 1740. For almost a century, it was Cathedral of the town. The high altar houses a wooden image of “Madonna della Tempesta”. Statue, dating back to the late XIV century, is carved in wood covered by a light polychrome plaster. Its antiquity and artistic values place the work among the most interesting samples of sculpture of the Marches. Inside the church it is possible to admire frescoes representing “Madonna col Bambino e Santi” of Maestro of the Dormitio of Terni (XIV century), a painting of the “Immacolata” of “le Anime Purganti”, the fresco of “Madonna delle Grazie” (XVI century) and an impressive statue of “Cristo morto” made of polychrome wood (XVII century).Organ overlooking the aisle of the church is particularly valuable.
