Either its façade and the frescoes inside are made by Luigi Fontana, as well as the altar-piece that represents the Visita del Sacro Cuore a S. Maria Alacoque (Sacred Heart’s visit to Santa Maria Alacoque). On the right wall there is a large painting of the XVIII century, with The Madonna between San Nicola and San Benedetto; on the left wall, S. Giacinta Marescalchi, of the Tolentino native painter C. Capoferri. Church is the seat of the Confraternita del Sacro Cuore di Gesù, also called of the “Sacconi” due to the particular robe in raw fabric, still today worn by hooded brothers during the “Processione del Venerdì Santo”. This brotherhood was established in 1805 and its first seat was the Chiesa di San Vito, located in Santa Caterina’s convent. Only in 1835 they moved in the Chiesa di San Benedetto that was widened becoming as it is nowadays. Museum of the Brotherhood is very interesting because it collects documents, memorabilia and holy pictures.
