CLOSED FOR THE EARTHQUAKE of 30 October 2016
New Town Hall – Gallery Europa Palace
At the left side of the Torre degli Orologi, the Palazzo Comunale stands out . It was rebuilt on a medieval building in 1860 following the project of the Tolentino native artist Emidio Pallotta. In an ex-voto kept in the Museum of the Sanctuary, there is the original aspect of this two-floors palace, having in the façade the images of the Virgin Mary, of San Nicola and numerous coat of arms. Over the capital of one of the portico columns, there was the statue of Giulia, the Emperor’s daughter, nowadays kept in the Museo Civico Archeologico “A. G. Silverj”. The current façade is as the original one: between six solid pilasters there are five arch doors with a narrow overwhelming balcony. Many of the inner rooms, among which the Sala Consiliare and the Sala dei Matrimoni, are decorated with estimable frescoes of Pallotta and Lucatelli.
